Access Bank organises fintech-based SDG hackathon

Delivering on its promise to drive the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria, Access Bank Plc in collaboration with the Financial Centre for Sustainability (FC4S) Lagos, and the Nigerian Climate Innovation Centre (NCIC), alongside AfricaHacks with the support of the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria, recently unveiled Nigeria’s first FinTech Hackathon for SDGs- the Naija SDGs Hackathon, which will run from the 25th of March, 2021.
The Naija SDGs Hackathon will bring together young and innovative technology enthusiasts and entrepreneurs from all over Nigeria to provide Fintech-driven solutions to sustainability issues affecting the Nigerian economy. The hackathon would also involve the creation of Youth SDG Laboratories, which will enable budding Fintech talents to explore and proffer solutions that will aid the realisation of the SDGs in the Nigerian economy.
Speaking on this initiative, the Head of Sustainability at Access Bank, Omobolanle Victor-Laniyan, said, “For us at Access Bank, sustainability is at the core of our business processes, and we continue to seek innovative ways to scale up sustainability in our business and in the communities where we operate.”
“The peculiarities of the global community today have called for more technologically-led solutions in pushing through the sustainability agenda. Through our partnership, we will leverage the creative expertise of talented Nigerians in developing world-class solutions while providing a platform for them to hone their talents,” she continued.
